Extreme Bible Challenge

Here are some photos of where members of the congregation have been reading their Bibles this Summer. Where have you been reading yours?

The Church weekend away 2018 to Brunel Manor

It was a busy couple of days for the 54 adults and 10 young people who attended, starting on Friday evening with the opening talk from David Lawrence. The theme was ‘making a difference’ wherever you are. We explored discipleship and the whole weekend gave us time to get to know one another better and understand what we get up to each week. Saturday was a lovely sunny day, so after the morning sessions, people scattered to various beaches, cliff tops, gardens and harbours. That evening St Matthew’s generation game allowed some hidden and slightly alternative skills to reach the surface. Do ask more if you dare. The weekend concluded with a discussion of all that we had learned and a really moving communion service. We left for home after lunch, well-fed, tired but inspired and looking forward to the next one.

Eggs for the Sisters of the Church

Youth undertook a project over Lent to engage positively with one of our mission partners: the Sisters of the Church. They organised a cake sale and used the proceeds to buy Easter Eggs to meet the request from the Sisters to give an Easter blessing to those families, who use their service. Together with donations from members of the congregation we were able to donate over 100 Eggs, which was over a third of the Eggs they hoped to give away.
