What’s it all about?
If you’re in Year 7 or above, this is the place to be on a Sunday morning! Make new friends, take part in games and activities, watch movies, explore the Bible and find out more about what it really means to be a Christian.
If you’re in Year 9 or above you can also join us for CYFA at Redland Church on Sunday evenings.
What do we do?
In 2012 we’ll be asking some ‘big questions’ of the Bible – where did it come from? How should we interpret it? – and designing a banner to be hung in the church porch. We hope to organise more social nights too, both as a group and with Redland Church.
In 2011 we organised a host of activities:
* A week of football coaching at Coombe Dingle Sports Complex, with a Match of the Day-style celebration of food and presentations at the end.
* Two Youth Services, the first exploring the idea of ‘Knowing God’ and the second ‘Seeing God’.
* A series of sessions using the TV show ‘Friends’ to investigate whether the Bible can help us to make decisions in today’s modern world.
* Designing and making a canvas, which was unveiled in the second Youth Service.
If you have any questions or would like to know more, please get in touch with Rachel, St Matthew’s Youthwork Coordinator. All of our youth leaders have undergone an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.
