The mission group are members of St. Matthews’ who have a special concern for the outreach of the church. The aim of the group is to foster a prayerful & financial concern for what God is doing throughout the world & to be a catalyst which encourages the church to have a wider vision & concern than the parish boundaries.
We meet several times a year to recommend which individuals & societies the church will support financially and aim to keep the church members informed about the work & needs of our missionaries and to encourage the members to support them through prayer & interest. We also encourage church members to consider missionary work or other service overseas, long term or as short term placements.
At present St. Matthews’ supports missionaries working
in a wide range of projects—training in Africa with
AIM, evangelism in
France, ecological studies with
A Rocha in Kenya, a
Christian hospital in
Kisiizi, Uganda,
youth work with
YWAM in
Las Vegas, U.S.A. We also support the
Busoga Trust in
Uganda which is involved in digging wells to enable villagers
to have a nearby clean water supply & the
Church Pastoral Aid
Society in the U.K.
