Parking can be difficult at some times of the day—there is a residents parking zone in action during working hours. Note also that the church is not visible until you are almost there! All routes between the A38 and the vicinity of the church are blocked by pedestrian-only zones so access by car has to be from Cotham Brow.

NOTE

The lower part of Cotham Brow (and Kingsley Road) will be closed from May until December 2013 due to water main repairs. To access the church please amend the instructions below to use Zetland Road, turn left at the mini-roundabout onto Redland Road and then right at the next mini-roundabout back onto Cotham Brow. Alternatively, if that is congested, go right to the top of Zetland Road/South Road then turn left onto Cotham Grove.

From the North

The recommended route from the North is to leave the motorways at the M4/M5 junction where there is a sign for Bristol A38 South (M5 junction 16). Continue on this road for about 5 miles (8km) passing a number of roundabouts and junctions keeping straight until you reach a railway bridge over the road (just after a traffic light junction and left hand bend). Turn right immediately AFTER the bridge into Cotham Brow and up the steep hill. ¼ mile (400m) up the hill it begins to level off. Turn left into Cotham Side and the church is 100 yards (90m) on the left.

From the South and the City

Driving in the city can be difficult but the easiest route is to follow signs for the A38 North to Gloucester. This is a road that leaves a large roundabout (St James Barton) underneath an office building now converted into apartments. Continue North on this road through a number of sets of traffic lights until you can see the railway arches. Turn left here (by the Cat and Wheel public house) up Cotham Brow and then as above.

From Clifton

From the shopping area of Clifton Down (Whiteladies Road) you need to turn up Cotham Hill. Continue to a mini roundabout and straight across into Cotham Road past St Mary’s church on the right. At the end of this road (by the pedestrian crossing) turn left into Cotham Brow and immediately right into Cotham Side.

By Train and Bus

Trains arrive at Temple Meads Station in the city centre. There is a local train approximately every 40 minutes (hourly on Sundays but not in time for services) to Redland, Montpelier or Clifton Down stations but each of those is still ½ mile (1 km) from the church. From Temple Meads a number 9 bus stops on Cotham Brow within sight of the church—ask the driver to let you know when you arrive.
