Press Release

Celebrating the arrival of a new Vicar for St Matthew’s, Kingsdown.

Mike and MarcusMembers of the congregation, and parishioners, of St Mathew’s Church, Kingsdown, were out in force to welcome their new Vicar, Revd. Marcus Nelson, formerly an Assistant Curate at the Minster Church of St Andrew, Plymouth last night, when he was licensed by the Bishop of Bristol, the Right Revd Mike Hill, and given the keys to the church by Archdeacon Christine Froude, on Monday 20th July at 7-30pm at St Matthew’s, Clare Road. They were joined in their celebration by many friends of Marcus and his family from their former church in Plymouth.

Marcus and his wife Della, who met while at Queen’s University, Belfast, moved to their vicarage home in Redland with their 4 children, Bethany, Noah, Elijah and Jethro, at the end of June, and have already fallen in love with the people and place of St Matthew’s.

Marcus says his prayer is that ‘St Matthew’s will ever more be a city on a hill, reflecting the light of its Lord throughout the parish and across the city.’
