Annual Parish Meeting (APCM)

Monday, 7 April 2014 @ 7.30pm

The church annual meeting is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all that God did in us and through us on 2013 and an opportunity to look forward to 2014.

At this meeting we will elect 2 church wardens, at least 3 PCC members and 3 Deanery Synod representatives.

Our two church wardens are the lay leaders of the church who work closely with the vicar and are automatically members of the Leadership Team. The Church Wardens are both elected annually.

The PCC is the governing body of the parish that works in partnership with the vicar to oversee the mission and ministry of St Matthew’s. The PCC is a ‘big picture body’ that holds the vision and takes an overview of all that goes on. It is also corporately responsible for the legal responsibilities including our finances, safeguarding and being the employer of our staff. It meets 6 times per year and each member is also a member of one of the vision delivery teams that meet between 4 and 6 times per year.

The Deanery Synod meets 3 to 4 times per year and is the body that links the Diocese with the parishes. As well as being the body that makes ‘local’ strategic decisions for the Deanery, the Deanery Synod representatives form the electorate for non-ordained representation at General Synod (remember the Women Bishop’s vote?!). PCC and Deanery Synod are both three year appointments.

If you would like to stand for election to any of these posts or vote you must be on the electoral roll. Please do pray about whether you could offer yourself to serve in this way. Do also encourage others to stand. If you’d like to know more do speak to one of our current members (photos on the board) or speak to Mat.
