Monthly Challenge

A member of the church remarked to me recently that in her gym they have a monthly challenge, and wouldn’t it be great to have a similar spiritual one. So here goes;

I challenge each of us to spend 10 minutes (or more) every day with God.

You may like to use it like this.

Put aside the time. Still yourself. Ask God to speak to you, reflect on your previous day, ask God to show you the good things, ask God to show you where you need to confess and receive his grace and forgiveness.

Confess and receive.

Read a few verses of Luke’s gospel or Philippians and ask God to speak to you through them.

Commit your next day to God, and pray for those people, things, world situations on your heart—perhaps using the St Matthews Cycle of Prayer.

Give thanks to God and go into your day in his name.

You don’t have to do all of the above, don’t rush, just learn to ‘be’ with God.

Try it! And do let me know how it goes and also let me know if you have suggestions for next months challenge!
